Vietnam welcomes over 6.7 million visitors in 5 months

According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), more than 1.16 million foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam in May, a 13.5 percent decrease from April.

In the first five months of this year, Vietnam received over 6.7 million international visitors, 27.6 percent higher than in the same period last year.
The country saw a rise of 33.3 percent in international visitors from Asian market against the same period last year with more than 5 million tourists. Of which, the number of visitors from China increased most by 37 percent, South Korea 62.1 percent and Japan 6.6 percent, Malaysia 12.5 percent, Thailand 9.1 percent and Singapore 5.4 percent.
The number of visitors from the European market rose by 11.8 percent with remarkable growth in Russia by 9.2 percent, the UK by 9.6 percent, France by 13.1 percent, Germany by 8.5 percent, Italia by 18.3 percent.
In addition, the country also saw a surge in the number of visitors from the America by 13.8 percent and the Oceania by 12.1 percent.
