In its document, the administration of Quang Ninh, home to Vietnam’s famed Ha Long Bay, said clearly that the plan must be paused to attract more tourists at this time.
Moreover, the management board of Ha Long Bay have to disseminate information of the famed bay as well as improve the overall quality of products and services within the bay to meet local and international tourists’ demand.
As Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper’s article wrote, some travel agents received the management board of Ha Long Bay’s proposal for fee hike to Ha Long Bay and the nearby Bai Tu Long Bay.
According to the proposal, the fee hike will be applied in January , 2020. For instance, the fee for each of the two-day sightseeing routes in Ha Long Bay will be up from VND500,000 –VND1.5 million (from US$21.5 to $64.6) per visitor.
The bay management explained that the fee adjustment aims to diversify tourism products for holiday-makers’ demand as well as for environment protection. However, tourist agents disagreed saying that new fee caused difficulties for them because they have already sent trip cost to tourists and partners.
