One more city experiments with battery-powered electric buses to serve tourists

Hoi An city which was recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO is the tenth city to be allowed to experiment with battery-powered electric buses inner city to serve tourists.

According to the project, in the first phase, 30 buses out of 120 electric buses each carrying 8-14 passengers will run. The remaining fleets will be used in the second phase after report of effectiveness of the first phase.
Electric buses will run in 13 streets in inner Hoi An city from 6 AM to 10 PM in summer and from 7AM to 9 PM in winter.
The experimentation will start from the second quarter of 2019 and end at the time decided by the government and the Ministry of Transport.
People’s Committee ordered relevant agencies to ensure technique and install equipment to supervise routine; electric buses in the project produce zero tailpipe emission.

Before, the city had experimented the public electric vehicles to take visitors to some handicraft villages. This move aims to limit 29-seated vehicles into the city to reduce traffic gridlock.
After experimentation, the e-vehicle project has been reported to contribute to building ecologically friendly Hoi An city.
