Vietnam’s ST25 rice has been named as the winner of the World’s Best Rice 2019 award due to its outstanding qualities and delicious taste. The researchers are comprised of engineer Ho Quang Cua, Doctor Tran Tan Phuong and master Nguyen Thi Thu Huong.
At the ceremony, Chairman of People’s Committee Tran Van Chuyen gave certificates of merit to the team. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chuyen highly spoke of the researcher team’s contribution to the agricultural sector.
On behalf of the team, engineer Ho Quang Cua thanked province leaders’ caring to the researcher team during more than 20 years to make the rice variety.
He promised to continue working to create more high value rice varieties.
Vietnam has been honored for the first time with the highest award at the annual World's Best Rice competition organized by The Rice Trader, a publication providing in-depth analysis of the global rice industry, in the framework of the 11th World Rice Conference in Manila, the Philippines.
