Plasma class opened in Vietnam for first time

The Association Rencontres du Vietnam yesterday held an opening ceremony of plasma class at the International Center of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province with participation of professors and researchers in the world who are almost from France.

According to Prof. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Association Rencontres du Vietnam, plasma is the fourth fundamental state of matter after solids, liquids, and gases which has great mobility and can conduct electricity like metal.

It has a huge mass in the universe, accounting for 99.9 percent of the universe's matter.

In France, 30 years ago, the first plasma research program was performed to use plasma’s strength for creating an atomic bomb to serve for the electronic energy industry in future.

In Vietnam, plasma is a new sector so domestic scientists have not enough knowledge to study. Therefore, Prof. Van wants to invite plasma scientists to come here and open the first class as well as help Vietnamese scientists expand their knowledge from new ideas.

Accordingly, the class had 32 participants including 11 professors from France to undertake lessons and discussions.
The plasma class is expected to open from July 1- 6.

As plan, ICISE also organizes an international conference on new physics with exotic and durable particles on July 2, attracting 34 scientists from 11 countries around the world.
