Female scientist given Ta Quang Buu Award 2019

Only one female of three scientists presented the Ta Quang Buu Award 2019 yesterday by the Ministry of Science and Technology was Associate Professor Nguyen Le Khanh Hang from the National Institute of Hygiene And Epidemiology.

The Ministry organized the award ceremony to honor scientists who won the award and Press Award on Science-Technology in Hanoi yesterday.
This year, the organizer selected 8 entries out of 45 entries for the jury to give award. The jury said that all entries are of good quality and published in prestigious scientific journals.
This year Ta Quang Buu Award were presented to three scientists working in the fields of Mechanics, Life-Biomedical Sciences and Physics. This is the first time a female scientist and scientists in the field of Mechanics and Life-Biomedical Sciences have been given the award.
The three winners for major awards were Associate Professor Le Trong Lu from the Institute of Tropical Technology ; Associate Professor Pham Duc Chinh from the Institute of Mechanics and Associate Professor Nguyen Le Khanh Hang from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh congratulated the winners affirming that the Party and government always determine science - technology and creativeness play important roles during the country’s modernization. Policies and mechanism on science and technology have been amended to beef up development of each sector and locality.
Being the first female scientist presented the award, Associate Professor Hang said that science management bodies have facilitated and offered equal opportunities in accessing to research aids and the award also contributes to honoring and nurturing scientists’ passion in the career.
On the occasion, the Ministry gave the press award for recognition of reporters who write articles on science to increase society’s awareness of science-technology role in the development and integration time.
This year, the jury decided to give four first prizes, four second prizes, four third prizes and six encouragement prizes.
Ta Quang Buu Awards is annually organized by the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development to recognize and honor scientists with research articles published on the world’s science journals.
