Two dead, three injured in typhoon “MUN” across Northern provinces

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that this year’s first tropical storm hitting Vietnam was weakened into a tropical depression after it made landfall in the south of Red River Delta provinces with its violent winds of level 8-11 and the highest rainfall of 197 mm.

According to the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, two dead and three injured as the typhoon triggering the violent powered winds and heavy downpours across Thanh Hoa province.

The dangerous weather caused landslide and interruption of coastal traffic road connecting Thanh Hoa and Nghe An. 

Last night, the weather agency issued the latest news on this dangerous zone. Accordingly, the tropical depression turned into a low pressure zone, moved the northwest and caused heavy downpours on the large scale. 

Amid the current bad weather, the General Department of Irrigation in coordination with local authorities, reservoir and dam owners planned to ensure safety of reservoirs and smooth traffic for aviation and railway roads across Tinh Gia district.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the Ministry of Transport asked the Consular Department under Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send diplomatic notes to China’s functional agencies on helping with searching for nine missing people on sea near Bach Long Vi Island (Hai Phong).
