Storms, flooding tend to increase in last months of 2019

According to the latest weather news of the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, Vietnam is forecast to welcome additional three or five tropical storms and low-pressure systems in next months.

Most of the natural disasters hit the Central and Southern regions, including around 1- 2 storms would affect directly to the country’s mainland. 

Therefore, the weather agency predicted that the number of storms on the East Sea in the last months of the year would tend to be higher than average of previous years.  

Amid the situation, the nationwide provinces and cities are warned high risks of thunderstorm, lighting, cyclone, hail, etc.

The cold spells with moderate to strong intensity lead to appearances of huge downpours and flooding in the Central, Central Highlands and South- Central regions. 

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, both the North and Central region suffer a cold air mass.

This morning, an excessive rainfall submerged the North Central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh.

In the next 3-6 hours, high risks of flash flood, landslide and flooding are able to occur in provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh due to heavy downpour in combination with cold air, turbulence of the east monsoon.

The rainy weather is expected to last until October 19.
