South- Central provinces urgently cope with typhoon Nakri

A working delegation of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue was led by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong yesterday had a meeting with the People’s Committee of Quang Ngai province about works against typhoon Nakri.

Amid the complicated weather condition, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong suggested that Quang Ngai province had to issue detailed warnings for people about position and intensity of the hurricane.  

Additionally, it is necessary that the local authorities should plan preparedness and measures for reservoir safety to avoid risk of flash flooding due to dyke breach. 

On the same day, the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention held a press conference to discuss preparations for the tropical storm. 

As the report, border guard forces coordinated with local authorities counted and instructed 47,330 fishing boats, evacuated a total of 37,811 houses with 152,563 people in dangerous coastal areas, low-lying areas to safer places. 

In order to ensure safety for people, provinces of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien- Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan issued operation ban on sea on November 9, 10.

The hydro-power plants decided to release water of reservoirs. 

Pupils were given full day off on November 11 due to the bad weather.
