In particular, the Central region is suffering a heatwave of above 40 degrees Celsius while heavy rains constantly poured down the Northern region.

Downpours caused one dead, three missing and three injured after sudden waves of flashflood and serious landslides in the Northern mountainous provinces such as Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Son La in Monday early morning.

According to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the average rainfall in the mountainous areas reached between 133 mm and 219 mm.

Suspension bridges, traffic roads and irrigation works were also affected.

In the Southern region, the southwest monsoon triggering cyclone, downpours and thunderstorm blew up house roofs and uprooted trees.

In order to actively cope with possible downpours and flooding, the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disasters Prevention and Control asked relevant units to keep eyes on on-going complicated weather condition, control dangerous and low-lying areas to ensure safety for local people.
