VN & RoK deepen relationship

State President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang yesterday received Korea’s National Assembly Speaker of Republic of Korea (South Korea) Chung Sye-kyun at Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

His visit comes at an invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
The Vietnamese leader said that the visit of the speaker of RoK National Assembly on the occasion of the 25th establishment anniversary of Vietnam- Republic of Korea diplomatic ties affirmed friendly relationship within a framework of the countries’ strategic partnership and cooperation relations between the two national assemblies. 
Vietnam is ready to work with the partner in effectively implementing Vietnam- RoK Free Trade Agreement, striving to raise two way trade turnover to US$ 70 billion or up to US$ 100 billion by 2020, and continuing to encourage and create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including RoK enterprises, added the president.
Additionally, he desired that RoK will increase import of Vietnamese goods to reduce trade deficit via helping Vietnam to participate in its global production supplying system, speed up technology transfer and support industry of Vietnam, and help Vietnam access to loans from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) capital after 2017.
President Tran Dai Quang also suggested the two nations to continue strengthening cultural exchange, education, travel etc etc…, mutual collaboration at multilateral forums, particular in the framework of the United Nations, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the international and regional inter- parliamentary as Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF). 
Additionally, he also suggested that RoK will help Vietnam successfully host the 2017 APEC Year, as well as to become non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), UNESCO Director General for the 2017-2021 term.
Chairperson Chung Sye-kyun affirmed that the two countries achieved good multi-faceted results; particular in economic, commercial and investment cooperation. He believed that more and more enterprises from RoK would pay their attentions to Vietnam’s investment environment in the upcoming time. 
Currently, around 5,000 RoK's enterprises have invested into Vietnam.
Thus, he suggested that Vietnam will give possible assistances to the Korean community as well as businesses.
