The Vietnamese Swiftlet Farming Association (VSFA) petitioned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue fine on those who catch salanganes to sell.
The association once again raised their voice about salanganes hunting to sell as bird for set free in pagoda or as food at the price of VND150,000 per 100 salanganes.
Deputy chairwoman of VSFA Lan Phuong said that if salanganes usually flock to besiege their peers who sing for help.
VSFA said the bird produce good profit because its nest is valuable food bringing dollars for the country; accordingly, killing the bird is a big waste.
Before, Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper had written about hunting the bird in Thim pagoda, La Gi Town in the south- central provinces of Binh Thuan and Phu Yen.
The association expected local administrations to have measures to handle the illegal killing as well as the Ministry to issue fine on hunter as the Law of Husbandry has taken effect.
