Paddy, rice prices remain stable

According to the Price Management Department under the Ministry of Finance, reports by some finance departments showed that the prices of paddy and rice in the north in January were basically stable compared to December last year.

In the southern provinces, the prices of paddy and rice declined compared to December last year as provinces in the Mekong Delta have started to harvest the winter-spring crop and buying demand was weak.
Particularly, in the north, the price of paddy was around VND7,500-VND7,600 per kilogram and the price of rice and 5-percent-broken rice fluctuated around VND11,000-VND14,000 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, in the south, the price of paddy was at VND5,175-VND6,100 per kilogram, down VND50-VND250 per kilogram compared to December last year. The price of rice and 5-percent-broken rice was at VND8,100-VND8,750 per kilogram, a decrease of VND600-VND750 per kilogram compared to December last year.
As for foods, the price of pig climbed VND1,000 per kilogram to VND43,000-VND52,000 per kilogram; the price of beef remained steady at VND260,000-VND275,000 per kilogram; and shrimps were sold at VND200,000-VND210,000 per kilogram.
