He announced that present population mission covers not only family planning or healthcare of mothers and children but also many problems. Accordingly, the entire machinery of state and every citizen must join hand.
In reality, there has been birth decline in some localities, especially in large city like Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam is going to enter aging population at fast pace. Vietnam is one of the countries with the fastest aging population.
Without good measures, the transition from the population aging period to the aged population is about 17-20 years, which is shorter than other developed countries around 70-80 years.
The Deputy PM pointed out that population quality lies on both elderly people and young people have good spirit.
Each baby must receive best care from their parents; accordingly, it needs a change in population management but it seemed that local administrations and society’s awareness is still low, as he said.
He suggested more investment and strong actions should be done for population task.
Vietnamese people have high life expectancy and the age of health stands at 73.5. However, the country is facing challenges such as birth rate and gender imbalance in different localities.
