People in Vinh Linh, Gio Linh and Cam Lo districts in Quang Tri province rushed to harvest rice. Mr. Pham Xuan Tuyen, director of Quang Tri Seed – Livestock Center, said that the center had mobilized human resources to assist farmers to dry 80 tons of rice a day.
Meantime, Mr. Trinh Duc Hung, chairman of Phong Dien district People’s Committee in Thua Thien-Hue province, said that the district had worked with Thua Thien-Hue cassava processing plant to quickly purchase cassava which farmers previously harvested to avoid flooding in 1,200 hectares. The committee has required communes to urge farmers to speed up the crop harvest because rain and flooding situation is progressing complicatedly. Currently, traders pay VND1,200-1,500 a kilogram.
In Ha Tinh province, hundreds of military and police officials were present in schools in Huong Khe district to help clean up the schools to start the new academic year.
The Border Guard High Command in Quang Binh province and authorized agencies on Friday saved four fishermen in a fishing boat from Nghe an province. The boat was sunken ten nautical miles from Gianh river mouth. Two fishermen are still missing.
