Binh Thuan province ensures enough food for isolated island in Tet holiday

The People’s Committee in the central province of Binh Thuan yesterday asked the province Department of Industry and Trade to have the commodity reserve plan for Phu Quy Island because in the time before Tet Holiday (the Lunar New Year) when the winter monsoon blows, transportation of commodities from the mainland to the island often faces difficulties.

Therefore, the authorities tried to ensure the reserve of essential goods for residents in the island at least in ten or fifteen days.
It is expected that 150 tons of rice, three tons of sugar, around 2,000 liters of cooking oil and over 1,500 packages of instant noodle will be preserved for 28,000 residents in the island in January.
Phu Quy is a small island located about 100 km from Phan Thiet city, Vietnam. Only the rocky, northern half of the island is inhabited, with a population of 28,000 people.
