Lottery ticket seller becomes civil servant

Ethnic-minority man, Kim Thai, was officially admitted to work in the office of the administration in Soc Trang Province in the Mekong delta while he was selling lottery tickets.

Chairman of People’s Committee in Long Phu District Kim Hen June 13 announced Khmer man Kim Thai , a lottery ticket seller to become a public servant.
Thai used to be a student of local Pedagogy college but he had to drop out of schools because of his family’s poverty to sell lottery tickets.
In 2010, he enrolled in in a long-distance-education law program of Can Tho University. He finished the program in 2015 despite being busy with earning his living and taking care of his own family.
In 2017, the province authority organized a competition to recruit public servant and Thai achieved score of 233. Many residents admired his good learning spirit.
Thai said he has never stopped learning; moreover, he thought he has to try more to well fulfil tasks because he wishes to serve people better as contribution to build the country.
