Renewable energy development rate in HCMC accounts 0.99 percent

The Ho Chi Minh City has set a target to develop renewable energy of 1.74 percent of the city’s total renewable energy consumption in the period of 2016 -2020, said the HCMC department of natural resources and environment.

However, the 1st quarter of 2018’s report showed the total capacity of renewal energy in the city reached 35.4MW compared to demand, accounting for 0.99 percent.

At present, the city plans to use solar energy at the high-floor buildings and the department of industry & trade was assigned to launch the program and select investors to treat waste by new technologies which can collect energy, contributing to increase the use of renewable energy sources as its goal.
