The municipal People’s Committee said as an economic locomotive of Vietnam, the city will have to make continuous development. Therefore, the master plan will be revised so as to make HCMC more attractive to businesses while winning public approval.
According to the Department of Planning and Architecture, the amendment will take into account the local resources while ensuring that urban structure will be arranged in a way that helps HCMC address technical infrastructure problems, adapt to climate change and eradicate flooding.
The planning work aims to build for the city a competitive environment, a complete infrastructure system, an urban space able to mitigate climate change impacts, and a suitable urban structure that can minimise the population pressure on the downtown area.
The Prime Minister has requested the municipal People’s Committee to coordinate with relevant agencies to carry out the revision.
