HCMC offers round-trip tickets to Japanese tourist overcharged for cyclo trip

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism yesterday met with family members of Mr. Oki Toshiyuki, an 83-year-old Japanese tourist who was overcharged VND 2.9 million (US$ 125) for a five-minute trip by a cyclo driver.

The department gave the elderly tourist two pairs of Vietnam Airlines round-trip tickets for Vietnam – Japan flights.  

On behalf of the Municipal Department of Tourism, Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa apologized for the incident with the old man and hoped that he still loved and dedicated much love for Vietnam.

The tourism industry and the specialized agencies of Ho Chi Minh City have always been joining hands in building a friendly and safe tourism environment for tourists.

Ms. Le Thuc Anh, who is a family member of Mr. Oki Toshiyuki, said that she was too surprised that the authorities and the tourism service of the city had been soon involved in finding out the cyclo driver. 

Thuc Anh's family is very grateful for this, and the driver also sent a letter of apology to Mr. Oki Toshiyuki and expected his family to accept the apology.
