HCMC leaders visit Thailand, Malaysia to learn experiences in urban development

A delegation of high officials of HCMC led by city Party Committee Standing Deputy Secretary   Tran Luu Quang yesterday paid visits to Thailand and Malaysia to learn experiences in development of smart city and prevention of flooding and traffic jams.
In this visit, the delegation expected to learn Thailand’s experience in governmental management in urban development, flooding fighting and social housing development.
The delegation specifically took heed of appeal of investments in urban renewal, urban development along canal banks and social housing development as the canal system plays an integral part not only in the city’s transportation, but in the city landscape and drainage system as well.
On the same day, the delegation had a meeting with Frasers Property Holdings Co Ltd  with 20 years working in HCMC on planning and cooperation models in building and developing smart innovative districts
Mr. Quang emphasized the accelerating needs of house in HCMC while prices of houses in Thailand nearly double in HCMC; therefore, Thai investors will have opportunities if investing in HCMC.
Mr. Quang also lauded the idea of the company in making use of university premises which can be done in Vietnam. For instance, available land in the Vietnam National University in HCMC (VNU-HCMC) is waiting for Thai investors.
HCMC will promote foreign investments through a number of solutions, such as providing the investors the clear land for projects, joining capital in the business, simplifying administrative procedures through ‘electronic single-window system’ in the city’s Department of Construction, alongside with urging the State government to amend regulations to pave the way for investors.
After Thailand, the delegation will continue their trip to Malaysia.
