Accordingly, the public non-business service operates under management, direction and leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport.
The waterway management center is reorganized from the Inland Waterway Management Area and Center for Waterway Registration having been belonged to the HCMC Department of Transport so far. On behalf of the HCMC People's Committee, the center will organize management, exploitation and maintenance of waterway infrastructure in the city; inspect and grant certificates of technical safety and environmental protection for inland waterway means and perform other tasks assigned by the HCMC People's Committee and Director of the HCMC Department of Transportation.
