First metro rail tracks to be installed on October 23

The first rail track stretch from Binh Thai crossroads to Hanoi Highway flyover of Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line will be installed on October 23, announced director of the project Duong Huu Hoa.

That is one of items of CP3 bid package to purchase electromechanical equipment, locomotives, coaches, rail track manufactured by Japanese contractor Hitachi.
According to Mr. Hoa, Shimizu-Maeda joint venture have finished digging 781 meter long and 17 meter deep tunnel from Ba Son station to Saigon Opera House station with tunnel boring machine (TBM).
The TBM is expected to be taken out from the work to continue digging the second tunnel. It is scheduled to complete in June next year.
Contractors have completed the roof and floors B1-B2-B3 of Saigon Opera House station as well as land digging and diaphragm walls of Ba Son station.
According to the HCMC Management Board of Metro Railways, the project’s CP2 bid package building 17.1 kilometer long underground stretch and locomotive and coach maintenance station has reached 70 percent of work volume.
CP1b bid package constructing the underground stretch from Saigon Opera House to Ba Son station by Japanese joint venture Shimiwu-Maeda has also completed 51 percent of work volume.
