Mr. Phong appreciated Eurocham's contributions in boosting the signing of EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) for the last past, believing the agreement to soon take effect and benefit both sides.
Eurocham is an active member of the Vietnamese Government’s Administrative Procedure Reform Advisory Council, siding with Vietnam Business Forum in assisting the reform process of Vietnam’s legal framework, he added.
Many members of EuroCham such as Shell, Total and Siemens have efficiently contributed to HCMC’s development.
Mr. Phong affirmed that the city always welcomes European investors to implement business activities benefiting enterprises and contributing in the city’s sustainable development.
At the ceremony, chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong expressed the glad to find that Vietnam-EU relations have been well developing since diplomatic relationship establishment in 1990.
The two sides have recently wrapped up negotiations of EVFTA and now they are waiting for the European Council to sign and the European Parliament to approve it. The agreement is expected to develop Vietnam-EU trade and investment relations to a new high.
Eurocham Nicolas Audier said that EuroCham has upheld positive cooperation spirit to contribute to Vietnam’s unceasing development for the last 20 years.
Appreciating Vietnam's spectacular change for the last 30 years as well as its great potentials, Mr. Audier said that the EU has organized lot of high level meetings with committees to estimate and make Vietnam a very important destination for European investors.
