City top leader pledges to speed up JICA funded projects

Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan on Thursday pledged that the city will do its best to speed up disbursement and progress of under construction projects financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the city, including environmental hygiene projects and the first metro line.

The Party Secretary made the commitment while receiving Mr. Yasushi Tanaka, deputy chairman of JICA.

At the reception, Mr. Nhan expressed thanks to JICA for cooperation and assistance to implement projects in Vietnam as well as in HCMC contributing to the unceasing development of the strategic cooperation relationship between the two countries.

On the same day, chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong hosted a reception to Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, new Thai consul general to HCMC.

Mr. Phong appreciated the friendship relationship between Vietnam and Thailand which has increasingly developed in all fields. At present, Thailand has 196 investment projects in HCMC with the total capital of US$410 million.
