The annual I-Star Awards (I-Star 2019) for innovative startups in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) announced the 40 most outstanding projects to enter the final voting round, lasting until the end of this September.

Until August 31, 2019, the organization board received 280 nominated projects, 277 of which were valid and divided into the four groups of innovative startup businesses; innovative solutions; media works; and organizations, individuals to have positive contribution to innovative startup activities.

I-Star 2019 officially kicked off in March 2019 to encourage creativity and implementation of research results into commerce as well as manufacturing. The contest is also supposed to boost the innovative spirit in all fields, making breakthroughs to serve the sustainable development of HCMC and of Vietnam in general.

According to Director of the HCMC Department of Science and Technology cum Head of the I-Star 2019 Organization Board Nguyen Viet Dung, this contest possesses the touch of the generation as 20 percent of the total points comes from the community’s votes in half a year. He expected that this new feature would establish the startup and creativity culture in the general public.

Reports from the organization board show that both the quality and quantity of this year’s candidates are truly impressive, ranging from such fields as technology, healthcare, education, traffic to e-commerce. These could be works and solutions from organizations like school management units, hospitals, the local youth union, the local community, domestic and international startup support units, or from individuals like article authors, TV program writers.

This has demonstrated the popularity of I-Star 2019 in the society, and in turn, has received the huge number of votes from the public for excellent and practical projects.

The 40 most outstanding projects to enter the final round are listed at www.doimoisangtao.vn/giaithuong2019 so that the judge board and the community have a chance to evaluate until September 30, 2019.

The awards announcement ceremony is planned on October 19, 2019 at Riverside Palace (located in District 4 of HCMC). That will be one important activity in the framework of the upcoming 2019 HCMC Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship Week (WHISE 2019).

This is the second year that I-Star Awards has been held to honor organizations and individuals that have typical achievements in innovative startup activities in HCMC.
