Over 12,000 healthcare facilities accept ID card replacing health insurance card

According to Vietnam Social Insurance, information of 40 million people participating in health insurance has been updated on the national database system on the population under the Ministry of Public Security. Therefore, those enrolled in health insurance can use chip-based Citizen Identity Card for medical check-ups at healthcare facilities.

More than 12,000 medical units nationwide accept Citizen Identity Cards to replace health insurance cards for medical examinations. Healthcare workers at medical facilities will use the VNEID to scan a QR code to encode information on an ID card.
Individuals who have not got an ID card or completed proper information on their health insurance card will carry out medical examinations and treatment with health insurance as usual.
