Over 10,000 have stroke in Mekong delta annually ​

Mekong delta has more than 10,000 stroke patients of 200,000 stroke cases, making up 5 percent of the cases reported in the whole country, said founder of the Stroke International Services Dr. Tran Chi Cuong.

The founder made the statement at the international seminar “ Updating stroke diagnosis and building emergency network to offer the stroke care service to residents in the Mekong delta’ held in Can Tho City yesterday.
The region has 10,000 stroke cases annually while medical services for emergency treatment is poor resulting in high rate of deaths and disabilities; accordingly, building network to provide emergency treatment to stroke cases is urgent.
Seminar participants expressed their concern over the rise of strokes cases and more young people suffer the illness. This is a real threat for people health. Though Vietnam makes progress in diagnosing and treating to reduce deaths and disabilities, building early emergency network faces difficulties.
They exchanged experience in treating the illness and shared information of the advanced treatment techniques.
At present, inhabitants are expecting the debut of Heart Stroke hospital in Can Tho which broke the ground in July, 2017.
