Hospital director suspended from work after dialysis incident

The hospital manager and two other staffs were suspended from work during 15 days after the dialysis incident claimed lives of eight patients.

Director of the Department of Health in the northern province of Hoa Binh Tran Quang Khanh yesterday signed a decision to suspend medical including hospital director Truong Quy Duong and Tran Van Son, staff of Material ward and Do Thi Hiep, nurse of intensive care unit from work to liaise with police for the investigation. 

Deputy Director Quach Thien Tuong was assigned to be director of the hospital. 

Director Khanh said that as per initial probe, the incident cause is contaminated water.

The scientific council will release official conclusion later.

Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi yesterday said that ten patients in the incident transferred from the General hospital in Hoa Binh Province were discharged in healthy condition.

They had been closely monitored by good health officials in Bach Mai hospital. Insurance company pays all treatment charges and Bach Mai Hospital covers all other fee and accommodation expenses. These patients will receive periodical dialysis treatment in Bach Mai later.  

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien approved to provide dialysis machine for the General Hospital in Hoa Binh Town to support 100 local patients with renal failure so that they need not to go to Hanoi for dialysis treatment.
