The model of smart healthcare will be piloted in the hospital later after the drill.
Physical violence against nurses and other medical workers has become an endemic problem in health care although violence against doctors and other health workers is uncommon.
The hypothetic situation was that a group of young men were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment after fighting. Meanwhile medical workers were providing treatment, another groups of young men stormed into rampaging through the hospital.
Immediately, the Code Grey response, a hospital-wide coordinated clinical and security response to actual or potential aggression or violence, activates an internal alert or emergency response in the hospital and police station. Two minutes later, police forces will arrive at the hospital to protect patients and medical workers as well as keep the rioters.
Hospital Director Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung said that six years ago, two groups of gangsters fought against each other in the hospital’s emergency ward. Though police forces arrived at the hospital in time, doctors and medical workers worried a lot.
Accordingly, the hospital installed the Code Grey response to keep a safe environment for medical workers.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Health Dr. Tang Chi Thuong said that all health-care personnel in hospitals concern violence and security order in medical facilities; therefore, installment of the response system in all healthcare facilities is to protect medical workers’ safety.
