African Swine Fever continues spreading to north central province of Quang Tri

African Swine Fever (ASF) continued spreading to the north central province Quang Tri’s Hai Lang District, said Chairman of Hai Lang District People’s Committee Hoang Van Vinh March 28.

Previously, pig breeder in the Hai Lang District’s My Chanh village March 18 reported that his nine pigs were experiencing common symptoms of the virus.
Quang Tri Sub Department of Livestock Production and Veterinary and local authorities were quick to take a blood samples for testing. Test results have shown that pigs were positive for the virus.
Consequently, infected pigs were buried, and contaminated farms in the village and the neighborhood were sterilized.
Established promptly in this area, several quarantine stations will work relentlessly to closely monitor transportation of pigs in and out the village.
Hai Lang People’s Committee decided to announce outbreak of ASF in Hai Chanh Commune from March 27.
People’s Committee Chairman requested that the local center of livestock production and veterinary work with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and related agencies to implement drastic measures and mobilize all sources to handle outbreaks of ASF not let it widely spread.
Moreover, competent agencies should allocate expense and chemicals to prevent disease spread.
