Vietnamese students win medals at 2018 IOI

Vietnamese students won one gold, one silver and 2 bronze medals at the 2018 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) which took place from September 1-8 in Tsukuba, Japan.

The gold medal went to Pham Duc Thang from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Ha Noi and Thang was ranked tenth in the competition.
Meanwhile Hoang Xuan Nhat from High School for the Gifted of the National University of HCM City, earned a silver medal and got the 38th position at the contest.
Nguyen Hoang Hai Minh and Nguyen Khanh of the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Ha Noi grabbed bronze medals. They took the 135th and 145th places at the competition, respectively.
The IOI 2018 attracted 335 candidates of 88 countries and territories worldwide. 167 candidates won medals, including 29 gold medals, 55 silver medals and 83 bronze medals.
The annual International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is one of the most prestigious computer science competitions in the world. The first IOI was held in 1989 in Pravetz in Bulgaria.
