HCMC launches shows of Hat Boi for tourists

Hat Boi Artistic House in Ho Chi Minh City has launched a new wordless show of Hat Boi”, also known as “Tuong” (classical Vietnamese opera) in an bid to attract tourists and preserve traditional theater.

The new show “sanh vi tuong, tu vi than" is about country lovers including children, elderly people, men and women who are ready to sacrifice their life in the fight against cruel invaders.
Because it is an experimental wordless show, actors and actresses use their own performance plus lighting techniques, music bringing fresh experience to viewers.
The wordless show was in fact first performed in 2007 meet demand of alien travelers. Now, it was re-performed with performance of young actors and actress in time duration of 60 minutes to suit modern life.
It will be shown three days in Tran Huu Tran Theater in next September. Director of the theater Le Dien said that the new wordless experimental show is expected to satisfy foreign tourists’ demand of Vietnamese traditional Vietnamese opera and contribute to promoting classical Vietnamese arts to alien travelers.
For years, the Hat Boi Artistic House in HCMC has been seeking a suitable place to perform traditional Vietnamese opera to serve tourists’ demand of arts. However, it needs more support of the municipal People’s Committee and the Department of Culture and Sports.
