HBSO re-presents Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring

“The Rite of Spring” was premiered in 1913 with the music written by the great Russian composer I. Stravinsky, choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky. It became one of the most important and influential works of the 20th and 21st century music.
The choreography is about the ancient rituals of the birth of spring. A sacrificial female character dances to her death. There have been hundreds of different choreographies on Stravinsky’s “the Rite of Spring”.
The ballet will be performed by artists of the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) and choreographed by Dutch artist Joost Vrouenraets.
The “The Rite of Spring” made its debut in the “Autumn Melody” 2019 which was held in HCMC on August 19-27.
