HBSO presents concert of classical music

The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) in co-operation with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam – US Friendship Association will present a concert featuring musical works by composers of various nationalities at the municipal Opera House on October 26.

The two main works will be Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso Number 1 and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring for 13 Instruments.
The event will also present to music lovers shorter works by Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky, including Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and exerpts from the “Swan Lake” which was one of Tchaikovsky’s most successful work for ballets.
Two of the best-known Vietnamese violinists, Bui Cong Duy and Chuong Vu, will appear together in the concert along with HBSO soloists including Meritorious Artist and cellist Nguyen Tan Anh, violist Pham Vu Thien Bao and violinist Tang Thanh Nam under the baton of American conductor  Christopher Zimmerman, music director of Fairfax Symphony Orchestra in the US.
