Activities mark War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day in HCMC Book Street

A series of activities marking the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27) will be held at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street from July 21-30.

An exchange with war veterans marking the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27) will be organized on July 21. The program is meant to be a tribute to martyrs and wounded soldiers, and for providing exchanges with historical witnesses during war time, Vietnamese heroic mothers and heroes of the People’s Armed Forces.
A meeting with painter Dang Ai Viet, a female elderly painter who travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to various parts of the country for three years from February 2010 to June 2012, to paint nearly 900 portraits of Heroic Mothers will take place on July 27.
Book launching  with the participation of former Con Dao prisoners will be organized on July 29 and 30.
Exhibition featuring 100 works of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, a display of 100 books on Uncle Ho and soldiers, martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers will be also held during the event.
The organizer will offer 100 entrance tickets Vietopia entertainment-education venue to children of martyrs, disabled veterans in District 1; and 1,000 book discount coupons and 70 gifts to families of war veterans.
