Work starts on Thai invested thermal power plant in Central Vietnam

The People’s Committee of the North Central province of Quang Tri on November 22 coordinated with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGATI) to organize the ground breaking ceremony of Quang Tri 1 thermal power plant.

The BOT project, invested by EGATI, was approved by the Prime Minister in August 2013 with the total capital of VND55,093 billion (US$2.38 billion).
The plant has the total capacity of 1,320MW including two 660MW turbines. After coming into operation, it is expected to generate 7,200 billion Kwh a year, create VND12.5 billion in pre-tax revenue and contribute VND1,250 billion to the province’s budget revenue.
The project is expected to contribute in ensuring national energy security and boost the province’s power development program making it an energy center in the Central region.
