Vietnam's vegetable and fruit import increases

According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam imported vegetables and fruits for a value of more than US$216 million in July.

In the first 7 months of this year, the country spent over US$852 million importing vegetables and fruits, including vegetables (US$168 million) and fruits (US$659 million), presenting a double increase compared to the last period.
According to domestic retailers, the price of imported vegetables and fruits is forecast to decrease; safe food, packaging and quality of domestic products will get better.
