Vietnam faces 154 trade remedy investigations in first nine months

According to figures by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first three quarters of this year, Vietnam’s export goods has faced 154 trade remedy investigations from 19 countries and territories.
Of which, 30 investigations were from the US, 21 from Turkey, 20 from India and 14 from the EU. There were 87 cases of anti-dumping investigation, accounting for 50 percent of total number of trade remedy investigations, 33 cases of safeguard investigation, 19 cases of tax-evasion investigation and 15 cases of anti-subsidized investigation.

Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Vietnam launched only 15 trade remedy investigations, of which, there were eight cases of anti-dumping investigation, six cases of safeguard investigation and one case of tax-evasion investigation. The number of trade remedy investigations was small as the country encourages trade liberalization so it only applies trade remedy measures when it is actually necessary.

Recently, the Prime Minister signed the Decision No.824/QD-TTg to promulgate the scheme to strengthen the State administration in counteraction of trade remedy evasion and origin fraud. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has also been advising the Government to develop a resolution on some urgent measures to strengthen State administration in fighting against trade remedy evasion and origin fraud.
