Transport ministry announces six inland container depots

The Ministry of Transport has recently announced the list of inland container depots (ICD) in Vietnam, including Phuc Loc ICD in Ninh Binh Province, Km3+4 Mong Cai ICD in Quang Ninh Province, Hai Linh ICD in Phu Tho Province, Tan Cang Hai Phong ICD, Dinh Vu – Quang Binh ICD in Hai Phong City and Tan Cang – Nhon Trach ICD in Dong Nai Province.
Transport ministry announces six inland container depots
Of which, Dinh Vu – Quang Binh ICD is the newest inland container depot that the ministry decided to open since 2018 and the first inland container depot in Hai Phong City. The depot’s operation duration will be 50 years with a capacity of around 100,000 tons per year. 
Up to now, Vietnam has had six inland container depots and 16 customs clearance points which function as inland container depots. Of which, there are five ICDs and seven inland customs clearance points in the north and one ICD and nine inland customs clearance points in the south whereas there is none in the central of Vietnam.
The ministry said that inland container depot system is developed to organize transport of containers reasonably, improving effectiveness of logistics services, contributing to reduction of congestion at seaports, international border gates and big cities.
According to the detail project of inland depot system in Vietnam in the period to 2020 orientation to 2030 which has been approved, after 2020, the country will have 19 inland containers depots, accommodating at least 15-20 percent of the demand to transport containers via seaport system.
