Vung Tau, Phan Thiet overcrowded with tourists

The management board of tourist sites in Vung Tau city said that the city received nearly 150,000 visitors while Binh Thuan province reported that the number reached 110,000 from April 30 to May 2.

Hot and muggy weather has sent streams of tourists to coastal destinations near Ho Chi Minh City including Vung Tau and Phan Thiet city in Binh Thuan.

Hotel prices doubled and quadrupled normal level in the two cities with numerous visitors from HCMC, Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Binh Duong and the Mekong Delta.

Traffic jam occurred at Song Phan toll booth in National Highway 1A as holidaymakers started returning to HCMC yesterday afternoon. The four day Reunification Day and May Day holiday will wrap up today.
