Vietnam welcomes 10 millionth foreign visitor in Phu Quoc

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in cooperation with the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province held a ceremony welcoming the the10 millionth foreign visitor to Vietnam in Phu Quoc International Airport on December 25.

The 10 millionth visitor was Michael Tonge from the UK. The 9,999,999th and the 10,000,001 were respectively Mr. Andrej Marek Balzer from Germany and Ms. Eva Lena Karlsson from Sweden.

Addressing the event, Minister of the Sport, Tourism and Culture, Nguyen Ngoc Thien thanked tourists for choosing Vietnam as an ideal destination and hoped to receive more and more international arrivals to the country in coming time.

According to the VNAT, the country’s tourism sector has gained many outstanding achievements in this year, including the largest number ever of international tourists of 10 million which represents an increase of 2 million visitors comparing to 2015.

The tourism industry sector expects to receive 11.5 million foreign visitor and 66 million local arrivals; total income will reach VND460 trillion in 2017.
