Vietnam receives over 1.5 million international tourists in January

According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the S-shaped country yesterday marked the day of welcoming more than 1.5 million foreign visitors in January, an increase of five percent compared to the same period of 2018.

Statistics showed that more than 1, 167 arrivals visited to the country by air flights accounting for 77.7 percent, around 24,157 international visitors travelled by sea route while the number of visitors travelled by road reached 310,406 passengers.

The highest growth focuses on the number of international tourist from Thailand, Taiwan (China), South Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia. 

This month, the number of domestic tourist reached 6.6 million people with revenue of VND 56,500 billion (US$ 2.4 trillion) increasing by 6.6 percent .

This year, Vietnam tourism is expected to receive around 18 million international travelers and serve 85 million domestic tourists with total revenue of more than VND 700,000 billion (US$ 30.1 trillion).
