Switzerland- Vietnam direct flights to be opened

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc yesterday had a reception with Head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications of Switzerland, Doris Leuthard at the Governmental Office in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always respects consolidating and enhancing friendly relations with Switzerland, hoping that the two countries continue to promote cooperation in the fields, especially trade and investment. The PM highly appreciated the two sides for their mutual support in multilateral forums.

Minister Doris Leuthard thanked the warm welcome of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and expressed her impression for the leader at the World Economic Forum in Davos at the beginning of 2017. 

Switzerland witnessed the diversified and active development of the Southeast Asian country, added Ms. Doris Leuthard. On the occasion, she congratulated Vietnam on its successes, and expressed her pleasure at the good relations between the two countries in previous time. 

After seven years of negotiating Vietnam-European Free Trade Association Free Trade Agreement (Viet Nam-EFTA FTA), Switzerland wants to conclude negotiations this year towards the signing of the cooperation agreement between both sides, opening up cooperation opportunities. 

The Minister also informed the Prime Minister about the good working results of the delegation with the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam; the Vietnamese side’s active assistances to sign the cooperation agreement on aviation services.
Accordingly, direct flights connecting between Switzerland and Vietnam will be launched twice a week which will contribute to promote cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade and investment. 

She said the Switzerland enterprises to Vietnam would focus on seeking the investment and cooperation opportunities in the country, including the field of pharmaceuticals.
