Over 6 million int’l tourists visited Vietnam in 2011

The National Tourism Year 2012 program themed “Heritage Tourism” featuring a series of activities to be celebrated throughout the North Central coastal regions during the course of next year is expected to raise this figure even higher by 2012.

The event, to be hosted by Thua Thien-Hue Province will promote domestic tourism and highlight the beautiful destinations in the region.

Accordingly, the organizers will develop and build special tourist cultural products and services, promote cultural heritage and historical sites, and highlight the intangible heritage of each area.

In addition, there will be many interesting activities such as a ceremony commemorating King Tran Nhan Tong when he entered Nirvana in Quang Ninh Province; the Hoa Lu ancient capital festival in Ninh Binh Province; the troop banquet ceremony honoring and commemorating the Hoang Sa fleet which patrols the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in Quang Ngai Province; international fireworks competition in Da Nang; Vietnam cave festival in Quang Binh and the Sen (lotus) village festival in Nghe An.
