The Nam Hai Resort outside Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has hired Philippine business development expert Albert Lafuente as its director of sales and marketing.

At the seaside resort, Lafuente is tasked with developing new markets. He was most recently the director of business development at Shangri-La’s regional sales office in Singapore.

According to The Nam Hai general manager Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, under Lafuente’s leadership, the resort expects increased engagement in key regional markets and more collaboration with local tourism stakeholders to effectively promote the property and the destination.

“With a new terminal at Danang International Airport scheduled to open by the end of the year and a second designer golf course nearing completion, this area has the potential to be Asia’s next great getaway,” the general manager said in a statement.

He meant Greg Norman’s Dunes Course at Danang Golf Club.

“Albert’s knowledge of the hotel industry and Asia-Pacific tourism habits enables us to really capitalize on what’s transpiring here,” Laubichler-Pichler added.

The Nam Hai is located on 35 hectares of landscaped tropical gardens just steps from the East Sea and within 10 minutes’ drive of Hoi An City in the central province of Quang Nam.

Since opening in December 2006, The Nam Hai has established a reputation as one of the best resorts in Asia and elsewhere.
