The most awaited event to attract a large number of tourists to the city is the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2018 which will be held on March 3-25.
This year’s event will offer a wide range of cultural activities, including Ao Dai exhibition, a parade featuring more than 3,000 women wearing Vietnamese traditional Ao dai in Nguyen Hue walking street, art program on the Vietnamese traditional dress, Miss Ao Dai beauty contest, seminars and talk shows on Ao Dai and among.
The city’s authorities has also asked people’s committees of districts, state offices, schools and universities throughout the city to encourage women to wear Ao dai during March.
Several parking lots in the downtown area will be available for visitors and vendors during the festival, such as Rex Hotel, Kim Do Hotel, Saigon Prince Hotel, Grand Hotel, No.7-9 Lam Son Street, Hai Trieu Street, pavement at Nguyen Hue-Ton That Thiep crossroad.
According to Director the HCM City Department of Tourism, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, the city welcomed more than 1.3 million international travelers in the first two months, has achieved 17 percent of this year’s target. The municipal Department of Tourism has cooperated with travel agents, hotels and restaurants to promote the Ao Dai Festival to tourists.
