Foreign visitors to Vietnam rise sharply during Tet

More than 1 million international visitors came to Vietnam in the first month of 2017, an increase of 24 percent over the same period of last year, according to statistics released by the National Administration of Tourism.

The number of foreign tourists increased in most of Vietnam’s markets, of which China increased 67.9%, followed by the Republic of Korea 15.1%, the US 17.2% and Russia 36.5%.  Other emerging markets are the UK, France, Germany, Spain and more.

Total revenue from the tourism industry during January is VND38, 000 billion, up 28.5 percent over same period last year.

Ho Chi Minh City also received a great number of foreign visitors during the first four days of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
