City opens seven waterway tours

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department, Transport Department and city leading tourist company Saigontourist yesterday attended in a ceremony to launch seven waterway tours and put into the operation of five high-speed canoes with designed capacity of 25 passengers per a canoe.

The tourism products aim to connect and develop waterway tourism services of Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring tourism sites.

The new waterway tours include:

-Eastern tour on route of Tan Cang (New Port) – Binh Duong Province – Ben Dinh (Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City)

-Tour of Tan Cang (New Port) – Binh Duong Province –Hai Thanh Koi Fish Ecological Tourist Area

-Tour of mangrove forest Tan Cang (New Port) – Can Thanh (Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City)

-Green Tour (Tan Cang (New Port) – Peninsula Thanh Da Binh Quoi (Ho Chi Minh City)

-Cu Chi Tunnel Tour (Tan Cang (New Port) - Ben Thanh)

-Garden travel tour from Tan Cang (New Port) to Long Phuoc (District 9)

- Sai Gon River Tour from Tan Cang (New Port) to Vam Sat Ecotourism Site 

According to Director of the HCMC Tourism Department Bui Ta Hoang Vu, the city received around 19 million domestic travelers and more than 4.2 million foreign visitors from January to September, contributed around 10 percent of Gross Regional Domestic Product of the city. 

By the last months of the year, the city will kick off cultural and sport events to develop and advertise image of the city to international friends.

The HCMC Transport Department said that high- speed boats connecting Ho Chi Minh City- Can Gio- Vung Tau are expected to be put into the exploitation in October.
