Bangkok Airways, Vietnam Airlines sign code share agreement

Bangkok Airways on December 4 signed a code share agreement with Vietnam Airlines that allows clients to fly directly from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to Thailand's localities.

This code-share agreement allows passengers to buy Vietnam Airlines tickets for flights from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok and then get on Bangkok Airways flights to more destinations in Thailand, including Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Chiang Rai. Traveler just needs to book seat and completes a one-time-only procedure with Vietnam Airlines for the whole journey.
The deal will allow Bangkok Airways to offer six flights a day from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok; and one daily flight on Bangkok-Da Nang route.
According to the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation, the potential of the aviation market of Southeast Asia is huge. Six out of 11 Southeast Asian countries see a double-digit growth rates in passenger traffic. The number of seats of flights between Vietnam and Thailand increased by 30 percent in 2016, almost doubled that in five years ago. This trend is forecast to continue increasing over next years.
